Cardfactory/Macmillan cards

Cardfactory has partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support to launch a new range of cards designed especially for people affected by cancer, the first time cardfactory has created a collection with this focus

People with lived experience of cancer, including carers for those with cancer, were at the centre of the creation process. In collaboration with members of the design and editorial team at cardfactory they guided the messages and imagery to ensure the designs reflected what really matters when words are hard to find.

For every card sold, cardfactory will donate 15p to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping the charity deliver round-the-clock cancer information and support for millions of people with cancer and their loved ones. This vital help is available through the Macmillan website, Online Community, Support Line and local services across the UK.

It can be difficult for loved ones to find the right words when someone is diagnosed with cancer. This unique range aims to make those moments easier by providing thoughtful, sensitive ways to express care, love and support.

Brian Waring, customer and commercial executive director at cardfactory, said: “As a long-standing partner to Macmillan Cancer Support we are extremely proud to launch this very special range of cards. Finding the right words for the more difficult moments in life can be hard. Thanks to the thoughtful input from those with lived experience of cancer, our in-house design and editorial team have created this beautiful range of cards to help people express care and compassion to those affected by cancer.”

Zoe, who was part of the design process following her own experience of cancer, said: “Working on this project has been great fun and it was fascinating to see the creative process from an initial idea to a completed range. The cardfactory team did a great job in reflecting our thoughts and ideas. Many of the cards have words and images that I found helpful during my cancer treatment. It’s often hard to know what to say to someone impacted by cancer. This card range offers simple and meaningful messages and images that can help people show they care.”

Another panel member, Helen added: “When I was diagnosed with cancer, receiving cards from family and friends was special because it made me feel loved and less alone. It must be so hard to know what to say, or what type of card to send, so having a range like this is such a great option – especially knowing that they were co-designed by people with lived experience of cancer.”

Michael Stickland, director of corporate partnerships & philanthropy at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It means so much that these cards were sensitively created with the words and experiences of people living with cancer. Finding the right words can be so hard, and these cards will help friends and loved ones show their support in a heartfelt way.

“On top of that, for every card sold, 15p will be donated to Macmillan – helping us continue to be there for people living with cancer. We’re hugely grateful to everyone at cardfactory for bringing this project to life, and to every customer who buys one of these cards – your support really does make a difference.”

The range is now available in all cardfactory stores across the UK and Ireland, and online at www.cardfactory.co.uk
