Kali Stileman new cross stitch age design

Kali and Jemima at Kali Stileman Publishing talk to Greetings Today about the kids’ sector…

How has this sector changed over the past few years – are the age ranges narrower now as children are more ‘grown up’ or are you altering your designs to take this into account?

We’ve seen a definite shift from girl- and boy-specific collections to more unisex styles that appeal to everyone – which shops love as it means buying one collection instead of two! Alongside our bestselling square Gold Number Cards, our Gold Clouds Number cards have proven to be really popular, with a more ‘grown up’ gold foiled number against cool and colourful rainbow backgrounds.

Our retailers are always looking for something different – how are you addressing that in this sector?

One of our strongest sellers is our wrapping papers with matching mini cards – which we don’t see much of in the sector! Our gift wraps are printed on heavyweight, high-quality paper; and with more than 100 designs to choose from, there’s a wrapping paper to suit every style and occasion. Most of our designs have a mini card to match. Printed on linen textured board for a luxurious finish, our bestselling ‘tiddly widdlies’ are super alone, but also make gorgeous upmarket gift cards.

Are there any trends in this sector that we can look out for?

We think children’s cards will be all about colour! Our little and large cloud number cards deliver just that: a good dose of colour, with gorgeous gold foiled numbers!

We also think there will be a nod to vintage next year, too. Our delightful new Cross Stitch number collection (pictured above) features pretty cross stitch style flowers in gorgeous retro hues.

This scrummy birthday card range features delightfully delicate number cards with pretty cross stitch flowers, perfect for little hands!

This collection is made even lovelier with the wrapping paper to match. Sweet cross stitch blooms against a soft white background make this paper perfect for little ones but cool enough for adults too.
