Greeting card industry stalwarts will be putting their best foot forward in the Cardgains Charity Walk in a few weeks.
The event, which takes place on June 26, will be raising funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of Toni Cresswell, product manager at Emotional Rescue.
Toni, who lost her short battle against the disease last September, is remembered as ”a caring, smiley and friendly colleague with a true heart of gold, always looking out for and asking after others. Toni has left a huge hole in both Emotional Rescue as a company and hearts across the greeting card industry.’’
This year’s 25-mile hike has been devised by Ian Bradley, of Rush Design, who has put together a route along the canals, parks and disused railway lines around the city of Birmingham. In honour of this, he and wife Lorraine, Rush designer and owner, have dubbed themselves the Peaky Bradleys, in a nod to the Peaky Blinders TV programme, which is set around the city.
Unfortunately, Ian is unable to take part in this year’s walk thanks to a torn cartilage in his knee – even more frustrating as he has spent hours painstakingly planning the walk, and spent a week walking sections of the route to make sure that it will be great walk for everyone on the day. He’s hoping he may be able to participate on his bike and assist the walkers. ”Some have suggested a mobility scooter but it’s Birmingham NOT Benidorm!’’ says team Peaky Bradleys.

Other greetings teams taking part include Danilo, House of Cards, Emotional Rescue, Paper Salad, Andrea Pinder, of Presentation Cards & Gifts, Barrowford, and David Falkner at Cardology.
