The Greeting Card Association (GCA) has warmly welcomed Royal Mail’s decision to highlight the joy of sending a Christmas card in its 2025 advertising campaign

The move comes just before Festive Friday’ (November 28), when Britain starts planning and sending cards to millions.

Amanda Fergusson, CEO of the GCA, said: “It’s no secret we’ve been a critical friend of Royal Mail as we campaign to ensure our postal service stays reliable, affordable and national.

“But we’re thrilled that they’ve rediscovered the part Christmas cards play in making Christmas joyful in their 2025 advertising.

“We enthusiastically agree with Royal Mail that ‘it’s so much more than just a card’.

“We will always support Royal Mail’s unique role in bringing people together through cards at Christmas. Being able to send a card for just 87p anywhere across the UK is still a precious Christmas miracle in itself.”

The GCA’s recently released 2025 market report said seasonal sales remained strong. Christmas single cards accounted for 11% of total retail value, with a retail value of £168m and an ARP of £1.93, excluding boxed and assorted packs.
