‘More than a greeting card.’ A greeting card carries thoughts, feelings, and memories that are sometimes difficult to put into words. It celebrates life’s happiest moments, offers comfort during the hardest ones, and reminds someone they’re loved, appreciated, or simply being thought of. Although it may be just a small piece of paper, it often becomes part of a memory that lasts much longer than the occasion itself. Every so often, we’re reminded just how meaningful a card can be.
A few years ago, we came across a public comment from someone who had chosen one of our Father’s Day cards. He shared that he hadn’t spoken to his father for many years, and felt this was the moment to take that first step and try to reconnect. His words have stayed with us. It reminds us why what we do matters.
Alljoy Design was established in Dublin in 2009. One of the first challenges we faced was choosing a name. We wanted something simple, meaningful. ‘All’ represents everyone, and ‘joy’ represents happiness. Put together, Alljoy simply means ‘everyone happy’. It isn’t just our company name. It’s also the kind of company we hope to be. We hope the people we work with enjoy working with us just as much as we enjoy working with them. If we can make the people around us a little happier, then we feel we’re on the right track, just like everybody else would do.
When we first entered the greeting card industry, we didn’t know what to expect. What we found was an industry that welcomed us with warmth, generosity, and encouragement. Publishers, retailers, distributors, agents and many others shared their experience and offered advice. That kindness helped us find our place, and it’s something we’ve never forgotten.
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to meet and work with many wonderful people throughout the industry. Some of the people who welcomed and supported us when we first started are still part of our journey today, with new friends joining along the way. Those relationships have become one of the most rewarding parts of being in this industry.
